There are plenty of reasons to travel to Nice to enjoy the many special events in the city and surrounding areas . These include the Cannes Film Festival, Monaco Grand Prix. The Iron Man Triathlon and the Nice Jazz Festival. If there\'s one thing you don\'t want to miss however it\'s the buzzy, musical and foody, FESTIVAL OF NICE PORT (known locally as Fete Du Port).

It\'s been running for 8 years and has become one of Nice\'s best festivals for food, music and fireworks. It\'s held in the stunning old Port area of Nice where the millionaire\'s yachts cradle the harbour alongside ultra modern cruise-ships and beautiful historical buildings. The Chef\'s Village is where the top chefs dish out their specialities from 5 euros / portion and the local restaurants pull out all the stops with enlarged terraces and buzzy atmospheres.

If you\'re not much of a food person, go for the fun of the fete and listen to musicians (on various stages), see the floats, laser shows and incredible firework display. Later into the night the music takes centre stage and the dancing really begins. Don\'t forget to take those comfortable prancing shoes!
